Goal Statement

To achieve quality & timely care through structured/ strategic plans & adequate resources.

Key Focus Areas

  • Create a comprehensive resource document for all the funding - Govt, NGO, CSR, Crowd Funding and increase visibility.
  • Make a list of NGOs for all hospitals and the support they provide.
  • Country Collaboration for Childhood Cancer Control (C5) Tool consists of 5 modules and provides a platform for sustainably improving childhood cancer outcomes in low- and middle- income countries. We plan to do two modules of C5 tool, c1 – National Context and Indicators and c2 – Mapped Institutions, Organizations & Roles in the next six months.
  • Undertake a costing exercise to determine cost of cancer treatment.

Glimpses of work

(a) Create a comprehensive resource document for all the funding - Govt, NGO, CSR, Crowd Funding and increase visibility.
Context

Despite the launch of AB-PMJAY to increase universal health coverage, healthcare in India is largely financed through out-of-pocket payments and remains unaffordable for a large part of the population.

People are unable to determine how to approach NGOs, PSUs, MNCs, and government organizations in order seek financial support for their child's cancer treatment because at present there is no resource document available to assist them in doing so.

Purpose

Through this document we can teach the individual, institutions, NGOs:

  • The methodology and process to apply for the various sources of funding.
  • Building and dissemination of information on support available from NGOs and the role of NGOs to all the cancer treating centres.
  • Small groups specific to states as the mechanism to avail the schemes is different for each, this initiative will work both regionally and nationally.
Status/Next Steps

A pilot has been done for 4 states and a compiled excel sheet created for the government schemes available in these states and the N.G.Os present in each state and the aid they provide.

(b) To do two modules of C5 tool, c1 – National Context and Indicators and c2 – Mapped Institutions, Organizations & Roles in the next six months.
Context

Country Collaboration for Childhood Cancer Control Tool (C5) is a Tool Supporting National Priority-Setting, Cancer Control Planning, and Collaborative Systems Change through Partner Engagement and Systems.

Each of the five modules of the C5 Tool are meant to guide teams (local leaders and those working with them) through a structured process to define and summarize the health system context, which enables evidence-based decision-making on national health systems strengthening and collaboration priorities pertinent to children and adolescents with cancer.

Purpose

We plan to do two modules, c1:National Context and Indicators and c2: Mapped Institutions, Organizations & Roles of the c5 tool.

Status/Next Steps

A discussion meeting with the SJG C5 team was done on 4th June 2024.
