Equal access to patient centred, holistic care and standardized treatment for all children with cancer and survivors (to ensure optimal outcomes) in India through multistakeholder engagement.
The goal statement was coined at the launch of ICCI in March 2023 by all the stakeholders reaching common consensus.
The objectives of ICCI:
- To formalize the group, its objectives, the 2030 survival goal and engagement of the stakeholders.
- To secure good and ongoing partnership between the India pediatric oncology community; and international partner St Jude Global, to secure technical expertise, tools and technology as well as capacity building and financial backing.
- To create a governance and operational framework, including the setting up of Task Forces that would enable the group to work together over the next 7 years.
- To collaborate with all other associations and groups and governments nationally and internationally that would be important to achieve its goals.
- To be the formal multi stakeholder group that would work on concrete plans of action that enable formal engagement with the Government of India.
- To seek mandate and work with the Health Ministry in the development of National Childhood Cancer Comprehensive Management Policy which involves Early Diagnosis, Shared Care, Integrated Paediatric Oncology Palliative Care across the Public Health Facilities.
ICCI will work towards the development of a country wide Childhood Cancer Comprehensive Management Plan and Policy, the execution of this across all tiers of healthcare in the country, and integration into the plans and policies of the Government of India and State Governments of India.
It will aim to seek mandate from the GOI so that these plans and policies become the national plan for childhood cancer in India.
It will engage with WHO, WHO SEAR and WHO India, and other important stakeholders to further its work.
